Big Owls and Little Owls

Inspired from the book Hello, Cupcake! :) Cute? :)

Yes, I spent some time separating Oreo cookies for the eyes :) *Now I have a jar filled with the plain side... wonder what I can use them for... haha* The book recommends slicing the plain cookie in half to use for the ears... I didn't have the patience to do that :P Anyways my sisters recognized that they're Owls (I hope people in general do too... so I didn't feel so bad not doing the ears... haha)

And I also picked the chocolate colored M&Ms for the eyeballs. Now I don't have any more chocolate colored ones in my M&Ms jar... haha... And the nose is made from yellow buttercream icing.

So here's twelve large owls cramped inside. I love how cute they look when bunched together ;)

And yes, this is the same box as this. I found out that without the insert it can fill 1 dozen standard cupcake, and it fits well! *I especially like how cramped they look when the box is closed: "Get us out of hereeee! I'm not sure about this guy next to me!" hee hee....
The mini ones goes into a plastic container I found recently. I also like this plastic box. So compact :D

I made 2 dozen mini ones. Here's the other set, with the box closed :D
Oh and there were 2 extra regular ones. Admit it, they're cute!

Here's a close up. :)

I adore this container. It's an ice cream container actually, but can multitask as a single regular cupcake container. The problem is... they're expensive! Dang it :(... But I had fun ;) And my sisters devoured them up and said they were good :D Yay!

Mini chocolate cupcakes

I was very upset with some school policy inconsistencies... anyway, I was feeling restless all day. At 11 pm that night, I stepped in the kitchen and baked these :)

Suddenly everything is allright again. (Well not really, but I feel a whole lot better :) *They're not iced - sometimes my bf and my sisters like things plain :)*

And yes the very center cupcake is smaller than the ones surrounding it... that's the last of the batter... lol....

By the way, this is the same size box with the Christmas mini cupcakes that I did. For gifts, it's nicer with the insert because it displays the 1 dozen mini cupcakes neatly... however without the insert it fits exactly 25 mini cupcakes (twice as much!) I like this box! :) See how nice they look from the outside?

Croissants?

Whoaaa it's June already!

Anyway, yes as you can see this is not a cake post. I've been experimenting in the kitchen with mostly baked goods and just thought I log it here. :)

So, croissants. Oh I love them love them love them. Took a croissant class from Richard *yes the man is a baked goods master. Not only he knows how to decorate cake, he also knows how to do other pastry stuff. Amazing. and I'll post more pastry stuff when I took other classes from him*

So the croissant dough takes a lot of butter *mmm butter* and a lot of work. But o.. m.. g.. it's so good... *and buttery... doh* The best thing is that you can divy it up and store it in the freezer for later stash :D And I'm never buying those instant croissants from the can anymore... Here's a picture of 9 croissants fresh from the oven

(Sorry, make that 8. As you can see in the bottom left corner a croissant is missing. Can't help me-self) Haha. *pure bliss*
