Quack!

This past week I've been doing nothing productive *hey, finals was just over last week, give me a break* :) - and also the fact that my friend introduces me to two very addictive facebook games *lets not go there*

Anywaaay, I learned how to do this adorable cake with Richard ;) - that should count for something... haha...

So here's Mr. Ducky taking a bath! (Well might be Ms. Ducky, the fluffy towel is pink :)

*yes, the white balls that looks like eggs are supposed to be bubbles* Just pretend it's bubbles :P

Well what I love about the cake is definitely the wooden plank surrounding the bathtub / pool / jacuzzi *whatever you want to call it :P* It's made out of modeling chocolate and it looks so real! *happy* Richard's awesome! Here's a closer look:

*and yes, I need to work on making a cuter duck... my sister P said it looks like a... platypus... *ouch* but she said it's cute, so that's all that matters :)

QUACK-QUACK!

Rainbow Cupcake!

Saw the steps to make this rainbow cupcake online, and my hands are itching to try!

So we start with all the batter, colored with 6 colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. (Ok ok, it's only 6 out of 7 rainbow colors... but really, can't distinguish between violet and indigo! It's shades of purple, people :)

And in the hecticness of adding 6 colors to each cupcake liner *and creating a mess in the kitchen* I forgot to take a picture of the adding process... oh well.

Here's how the cupcakes look like when done! Kinda like the earth? Somehow? A little? Cute? :D

My sisters comments: Kinda look like... mushrooms / fungi... *ouch*
This is my favorite part: Look how they look inside! Sooooo preeetyyyyy! :D *jumping around, happy*

And as a bonus, look at the cupcake liners! *squealing with delight* Fancy yeah? :D

Lesson learned: Next time, perhaps I won't use tooo many coloring on the batter... All our tongues are bluish after eating the cupcake :P *I got overexcited when mixing the blue colors... :)* hihihi... o well, it was fun though! Definitely will make again! :D

Purse Cake!

Another one from Richard's class. Look at that purse! *Girls shrieking* :D And yes, it's a cake! Totally edible!

Here's a side view

And a close up of the handle. See the "sewn" detail? :D Richard never cease to amaze me with his tricks.

Yea yea I need to be more tidy with my fondant... it's not as smooth as I'd like it to be. :)

But a really really cute cake! :D

Clown Cupcake

I just had to make this cupcake for Tim.

See he's my groupmate. We actually meet on Sunday to work on our class project. Little did we know, that Sunday was Tim's birthday. (He didn't say that until the last minute). And we all feel bad for making him work on his birthday!

So the next time I saw him, I made these clowns for him. (Its the same like this one I did for my sister C last September) He seemed so happy bout this surprise, and I didn't feel bad anymore about Sunday :) Oh and he gobbled the clowns during break time :D

Mother's Day 2009 - Cherry Blossom!

So. My sister C told me we're celebrating a themed celebration for Mother's Day at Church. She asked if I could make cakes / cupcakes for the occassion. (As if I'm going to turn down any chance making cake... hehehe) The theme is Japanese / Cherry Blossom, and I thought of making mini cakes for the moms :)

Well first let me show you what the youth team did. See the Japanese table? Pretty good job eh?

And here's the mini cakes, 1 each for the mom :) It's chocolate cake, covered with fondant and decorated with fondant flowers with chocolate branches :)

Another closer look at the table. See my cakes are placed in between the place mat. Man they did a nice job with the table :)

Plus see what the moms are getting. Special treatment only. See the Japanese curry, the tempura, and the miso soup? (and my cake of course, heh heh) Mmmm.... Great job guys!

And of course you can't forget the other people coming too, so here's some cherry blossom cupcakes :D *60 pieces!* :D

So I spent all night doing those... lol... and enjoying every minute even as my kitchen is turning into a big giant mess (Icings and chocolates everywhere! But I cleaned up ;)

As I was cutting the mini flowers one by one (yes, hundreds of them and spending 2 hrs on it alone) I remember saying to C: "You better not change the theme"... hahaha... thankfully they didn't. *Phew!*

And here's a final look at the 9 mini cakes I did. I received some compliments too, (on looks and taste) so that made my day ^_^

P.S: Special thanks for Moniq for the pictures... heh heh heh :)

Cupcake Monsters

Took a cupcake decorating class back in March ;) Richard's my instructor, and he's extremely nice and teaches me lots of new stuff! More posts coming up on stuff I decorated in Richard's classes.

Here are two very fun creatures created in his cupcake class:
The green monster:"I'm going to eat you!" (and vice versa)

And of course, there's Cookie Monster eating an oreo cookie... I like this one so much... imagine if there's multiple cookie monsters! Ahhh...
Hmmm... wonder if there's any event coming up as an excuse to making multiple of these monsters....

Memorial Service Cupcake

Back in February, a friend of mine passed away. To celebrate his life and to comfort each other during his sudden passing, we in the Nor-Cal decided to meet up for a memorial service.

To honor his love of food, each of us brought a dish to share. Here's mine: Mini yellow cupcake with white buttercream flowers. I made more of the small flowers *less icing* pictured here:

And some white roses with hershey's kiss hidden inside. *More icing* And this is the tray I brought to the service.

It was a great memorial service. We cried *a lot*, we laughed, we reminisced, and we shared food with one another, remembering our dear friend taken too soon from our lives.
